St. Albert

St. Albert is a small town in The Nation Township in Eastern OntarioCanada. It is located on the South Nation River, 10 km southwest of Casselman and 17 km southeast of Embrun.

What's in St. Albert:  Community Centre a church, a primary school, a bank, a woodshop, a hardware shop. It also has two old age residences. The village is surrounded by farmland is also the host to the annual Curd Festival.   St. Albert Cheese Factory is located in the centre of the village.

On February 3, 2013, a fire destroyed the St. Albert Cheese Factory, leaving 125 factory workers and 50 producers (roughly one fifth of the town’s population) unemployed for the foreseeable future.  The factory was rebuilt and re-opened nearly two years after the fire.  Daily cheese and cheese products are produced and offered for sale to the general public and other distributors.  You can now walk thru the factory to see how the cheese is produced.  The factory also offers a restaurant and dairy bar - delicious ice cream.  Nothing like a drive to St. Albert on a Sunday for some fresh cheese curds and an icre-cream cone.  In the summer, sometimes, there are vendors offering local products.
